Aluminium casting material

Material for alunium gravity casting.There're lots aliminum grades in market. Some materials are suitable for gravity casting, but some others are much suitable for aluminum die casting or aluminum sand casting. To learn more you can click 'aluminum casting materials'.

Below material grades are suitable for aluminum gravity casting.

1)Aluminum grade ASTM A356

*Chemical components
Si: 6.5-7.5, Mg:0.30-0.45, Ti≤0.2, Fe≤0.12, Mn≤0.05, Cu≤0.1, Zn≤0.05, Al:balance

*Mechanical properties

Yield strength: 216MPa
Breaking strength: 224MPa
Elongation: 1.086%
Area reduction rate: 0.194%

*Adavantages

Such aluminium grade is with good liquidity, no hot tearing susceptibility, small shrinkage rate and good gas tightness. Same as other investment castings, after gravity casting and heat treastment, the properties of castings will be increased.

*Application

Such material is widely used to cast products with standard shape in sand casting ro gravity
casting process. Mainly used for various shells for equipments, such as joints, transmission
shells, feul tank shells, etc.

Below aluminum grades are suitable for aluminum die casting.

1)Aluminum grad ASTM A380

This material is belows to Al-Si-Cu seiries Aluminum grades. The equivalent aluminium are ADC10.

*Chemical components

   Cu:3.0-4.0, Si:7.5-9.5, Mg≤0.1，Zn≤3.0, Mn≤0.5,Ni≤0.5, Sn≤0.35
 
   *Properties
    This aluminum grade is widely used in aluminum casting process. Castings made in such material are with good thermal conductivity, pressure bearing, high temperature resistance and easy to be machined. Surface of castings will be a little rough due to the high percentage of Si.
 
   *Application
   Such aliminum castings are used as engine brackets, hand tools, chasis of electricity equipment, etc.
